Literature Text

One year later
The rock star released his fourth album
That was poignant to the touch
Of his fans' ears.
Why was he so bitter?

On the other side of their world
The writer published a book
That was the biggest roller coaster of emotions
That the writer had ever written
And she was a bestseller novelist
Known for her emotional stories.
Why was she so depressed?

The rock star had to go to California for album and
To get away from the prying questions
And the memories
Of a relationship that just couldn't last
No matter how hard they had worked.

In California the rock star
Accidentally ran into the writer, who was there for a book signing
For a moment the former lovers were startled, not expecting to see each other.

"Hey."
The rock star said, forcing himself to smile.
"Hello."
The writer said tiredly.
Then, the emotions exploded.
"Why did you leave me?"
The rock star demanded.
"Why did you put your career first?"
The writer yelled.

The former couple fell silent
As the other's question registered in their minds.
"I didn't want to leave,"
The writer began.
"But both of our careers took off...and it became stressful."
"I didn't mean to put my career first."
The rock star said guilty.

There was a tense silence for what felt like eternity.

"I listened to your new album."
"Huh?"
"I listened to your new album."
"Why?"
"Because I love your band. I'll always buy your albums."
"Oh...."

The rock star didn't allow himself to grow hopeful.

"I read your new book."
"But you hate reading...."
"Yeah...well...I always read your stuff. Remember?"

This time they both smiled.

"I miss you."
The writer said quietly.
"Well...of course. I was your first boyfriend..."
The rock star said without thinking.
"So you don't miss me?"
The writer asked. She would have been furious a year ago.
"Every damn day I do."
The rock star admitted.

"So...your album is about me then, isn't it?"
The writer asked.
"Yeah, it is,"
He said sheepishly.
"I mean...it's about how in love I am with you and how-"
"How I broke your heart after I promised I wouldn't."
The writer said sadly.

"Yeah. Your new book is about me, isn't it?"
The rock star asked.
"Originally it was supposed to be about advice on how not to lose your lover...
But you know me."
She said with a shy smile.

He smiled back.
The pain of losing her
And the joy of seeing her
Made him feel delirious.

She had promised him once she'd never let go
And for seven months that promise was kept
But when the rock star became famous
As did the writer
They were forced to break apart.

"So..."
The rock star began.
"So."
The writer repeated.
It felt like one of their many random phone calls
They had made to each other
Now who will say what?

"Do you think...."
"Yes?"
"I can come back into your life?"
The rock star asked, still forcing himself to be hopeless.
After all
They had left
A rotten taste in each other's mouth.

"I'm not sure."
The writer said uncertainly.
"I mean...we had a terrible break up."
"I know but I really miss you."
"I really miss you too...."
"So what's the problem then?!"
The rock star demanded.

"I won't want to suffer again.."
"You won't."
The rock star said seriously.

The writer looked at him.
"We'll give it a try."
He grinned and hugged her.

The fame had torn them apart.
But the rock star's album
And the writer's book
Brought them back together
Maybe not as a couple
But as friends.
This felt a lot better in my head...

It's a sequel. Go figure :dead:
